From 2012 onwards I was back pursuing my first love performing. My day job was family entertainer on cruise ships, school shows and parties. I devoted any remaining spare time to creating my Gothic Victorian character. I wanted to reflect the success of Victorian female magicians such as Anna Eva Fay and Lulu Hurst. I became aware of the many female magicians who were celebrated less often than their male counterparts.
In 2015 I had a medical procedure. Complications meant I became unwell in the following days and had to spend some time in hospital. I remember lying on the hospital bed promising myself that if I was given another chance, the one thing I must do was to perform to the best of my ability. From then on it became my hearts desire to perform as Sylvia Sceptre.
I knew that creatively I had more to give. I could tie together skills of writing, performing and directing and be of service to the world. I have niched as a creator of shows that focus on the representation of folklore and history as their roots. Because of this I now get to perform in some of the most interesting locations worldwide. This year I have performed in a Victorian Anglican Chapel at Arnos Vale cemetery in Bristol. The show sold out and it was the most perfect location for Phantasmagorical. https://arnosvale.org.uk/venue-hire/anglican-chapel/
Tickets have also sold out for Phantasmagorical at The Old Operating Theatre in London. http://oldoperatingtheatre.com
Future dates for Phantasmagorical are on their way soon!
The Ettington Park Hotel, have commissioned me to write a show. This is all about their reputation as the most haunted hotel in England. This work I love. Researching, telling the story and keeping history alive through storytelling and magic. May it long continue! You can buy tickets here >
